Dear Rosanne,
Your letter has warmed this poor old man’s heart. It is not every day someone from Elyssanar writes to me, even if only for my connection to Valhalla, so I am glad to meet you, if in this odd, distant way. But there is something special about writing to those whom you’ve not met in the flesh, isn’t there? And in receiving from them, a strange joy in knowing they put in such time and thought into reaching out to a you. It makes me think of the Sentinels themselves in a way, and how they wish to reach ourselves. In my earlier days, I would wonder why such insignificant beings such as we would be of any interest to them, but Valhalla has long since persuaded me otherwise. They are closer to ourselves than you might think, but then so are the Snakes. It is both wonderful and terrible to consider.
And yes, there are other Voices, one for each Sentinel. The Voice of Zion lives in Kircany, the Voice of Elysium in Arkonia, and the Voices of Heaven and Paradise are here in Parasten like myself. I have not met them personally, but the Sentinels let us know about each other’s general whereabouts.
As for your plight, I have inquired Valhalla about it, and this is what he has said:
“It may come as a shock, but I can’t see the future, so I’m sorry to say I can’t answer your question. I do, however, offer some advice. Have patience with yourself and the suitors being brought to you. And if none are to your liking, let it be known. Don’t spare your feelings from your parents. Allowing yourself to suffer inner-turmoil alone is a path to self-destruction. I would know, having gone through much myself in ages long past.”
I apologize if his answer is not to your liking, but if I may, I agree with his advice, and not just for the fact that I am his Voice.
The ever so dark future is truly frightening, but if you wait patiently enough, you find it coming and going in the moment as calmly as a river flows towards the southern sea. You have much life ahead of you, and part of the fun is all the mystery along the way, even if sometimes there are not so fun surprises.
As for how to show your gratitude, simply continue to do your best to love your family, friends, and all life around you. It is all very precious and fleeting.
If there is ever anything more on your mind you'd like to inquire of me or Valhalla, you are more than welcome to write us as often as you like. I should hope to think of you as a new friend.
May the Sentinels warm your fires.
Chavan,
The Voice of Valhalla
