Dear Rosanne,

Your worries weigh as heavily on my heart as they do on yours. It is not easy to have such knowledge at hand and to feel the need to keep it hidden from those more prejudiced around you. I have been blessed to be able to live among a good people most of my life, many of which who, like yourself, come to me ready to hear whatever it is Valhalla has to say. But there are still the occasional naysayers who would like nothing more than to throw me into a cell, cut off from the light of fire. Though I am Valhalla’s Voice, he is not a harsh taskmaster who requires me to eternally go to and fro speaking what he wishes to be spoken. He is much kinder than that. There are moments where he insists on what is to be done, but he has never led me to a place, physically or otherwise, that I could not bear.

Here is what he has to say to you:

“I do know your mind, but it’s not for me to speak it on your behalf. It would violate our principles. Because you are so curious and eager, though, I will speak with you forthrightly. Your worries are valid about a great many things, but it is not dishonorable to keep this communication with myself or Chavan to yourself. It is not heroic either. Don’t let your spirits be dampened by that, though. Every person on Earth may come to the Sentinels for guidance and truth, but not every person decides to. You do not bear the responsibility of bringing them to us, and it is entirely up to you about whether you wish to bring us to them through yourself (if you wish for guidance on that, you know how to ask us, and I would encourage it).

As for your concern with the High Council, and everything they’ve taught, you would be better off to rid yourself of their teachings and influence entirely, using only what is written in The Five Sentinels to guide you. It’s not a perfect book, having been corrupted by the hands of men over generations, but it is good enough. Those who claim to know everything about the hearts of the Sentinels are little more than babes crying out for attention. Not even Chavan knows everything about me.”

It’s true, for I do not know what his need was to say that about me to begin with. He likes to wound my pride every once in a while.

I would like to add; be kind to your mother. She is frightened there may be thoughts in your mind that would tear you away from her. A mother is precious, and you have no need to show her you do not think as she does in one, or two, or a dozen different matters. You are more similar than you are different, and I’m sure you always will be.

My prayers are with you, and I hope your voyage into romance blossoms as brilliantly as the sun.

May the Sentinels bless your fires.

Your friend,

Chavan
